Mediterranean Diet Builds Strong Bones

Here’s another thing that the Mediterranean diet is good for: strong bones, at least in the case of post menopausal women. Researchers at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil analyzed bone mineral density and studied the diets of 103 healthy women who had gone through menopause 5.5 years earlier, on average. Science Daily reports that the researchers found that the Mediterranean diet was significantly associated with higher bone mineral density, which they measured at the lumbar spine. Wait, there’s more: It was also associated with with greater muscle mass.
