Avodart (Dutsteride), a commonly prescribed drug for treatment of an enlarged prostate, can have some disturbing side effects on metabolic and sexual function, according to researchers at the Boston University Medical Center. Science Daily reports that researchers at the medical center studied two groups of men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), one of whom was prescribed Avodart and a second group who were prescribed Tamsulosin (an alpha blocker), following both groups for 36-42 months. The researchers reported finding serious adverse side effects related to Avodart that were not obvious several years ago, including an increased risk for diabetes, elevated cholesterol levels, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and worsening erectile dysfunction.
It’s too bad these things cannot be found prior to perpetrating the drug on the public. I’m sure the drug hasn’t changed in those years!
