Would You Drink Less Beer to Attract Fewer Mosquitoes?

Would you drink less beer if it would attract fewer mosquitoes? The correct answer is: how much less beer and how many fewer mosquitoes? PLoS One has published research conducted in Burkina Faso, which had 25 volunteers drink beer, then exposed them to 2,500 A. gambiae mosquitoes. Eighteen volunteers drank only water and were exposed to 1,800 A. gambiae
mosquitoes (100 mosquitoes per volunteer). The behavior of the
mosquitoes was observed, and it was determined that they go after the
beer-drinkers preferentially. For the details, read this abstract in PLoS One or read this piece in Greg Laden’s Blog. Geezer is conducting his own research.

NO! Mosquitoes also have a right to get drunk!

  2. I am a vegetarian who, do to religious/spiritual practices and personal preferences does not drink any alcoholic beverages yet I am a mosquitoe magnet who willl be invited to outdoor events so that no one else gets bit! If I drank beer I’d have been sucked dry if I hadn’t scratched myself to death first…Oh well, I’ll pass the info to my beer drinkin’ and hell raisin’ friends.
    Thanks
