New Web Site Offers Personalized Health Advice

Would you share your most personal medical information with a web site that promised to deliver personal health advice? What if that advice were excellent, and the advice were (at least for now) free? A San Francisco-based start up is betting that many people will. The New York Times reports on the efforts and the promise of Keas, an online health advice service that combines personal data with health information to deliver tailored health plans for individuals. Keas has so far won the confidence several health care big feet, including Healthwise, a nonprofit supplier of online health information to managed care companies, insurers and Web portals, including Kaiser Permanente, WebMD, Revolution Health, Yahoo, MSN and AOL. The Times reports that Healthwise has created 15 care plans for Keas so far, including advice on high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and weight and stress management. Check out Keas here.

  1. I find this very encouraging as my biggest complaint about most dotots that I have seen lately is that they care little about individual differences, they treat me the same as any other 50+ some male. This public health model of treating the individual leaves a whole lot to be desired. Anything that works to make health care or wellness more personalized would be great.
