Exercise Keeps Flu at Bay

OK, maybe it's not humans who are the subject of research suggesting that exercise can keep the flu at bay. Maybe it's mice, but mice are nice, and their biology is more similar to that of humans than humans like to believe. A press release from Iowa State University reports on research suggesting that mice Mouse-wheel that regularly ran on a
treadmill over a three-and-a-half month period developed less
severe symptoms from the flu virus than those that were not
subjected to exercise, and had less influenza virus in their
lungs. The mice that regularly exercised also showed lower levels
of inflammatory factors in their lungs soon after being
infected with the virus.Wait, there's more: A group of mice that ran on the
treadmill for just 45 minutes on the day of their infection
experienced some short-term benefit in diminishing the
severity of the flu. Read more from Iowa State University.

I always find it interessting when I am told that deep down, genetically plus or minus a few chromozones, I am a rat…perhaps I should go into law or politics.
I do see less ill persons in the gym then on the street so pass the cheese, I’m heading back to the gym for some aerobic/cardio work.
