It may or may not be true that low fat diets have no effect on cancer, but apparently, low-fat people do. The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) is persuaded by recent research that fat cells release small amounts of hormones and other growth factors
that can spur healthy cells to grow and divide at an accelerated rate.
That, as the Washington Post reports, may increase the risk of cancer. Consequently, the AICR is promoting the concept of "energy balance," which as far a Geezer can tell, simply means balancing the number of calories you eat with the number of calories you burn. How to do that? AICR recommends these three steps:
1. Increase the proportion of vegetables, fruits and whole grains in your diet.
2. Reduce portion size of your meals.
3. Increase your physical activity.

I love your donuts! I was introduced to Holey Donuts through ZoneChefs Delivery, and so far I’ve tried Boston Cream, Lemon, Chocolate Frosted and Raspberry. They are all amazing! It’s hard to believe they’re low fat. It sounds silly, but I really look forward to the days I find a Holey Donut in my Zone meal bag. They’re so yummy, I feel like I’m cheating on my diet.
