An Injured Runner Finds the Joy of Swimming

Geezer is a swimmer who tries hard not to be evangelical, but over the years he’s seen so many aging athletes sidelined by busted up knees and backs that it’s hard to refrain from urging them toward a more forgiving medium: water.  Now the Washington Post takes up the cause with this first-person account of a runner whose back decided that it no longer wanted to play. Writer Meghan Gibbons found salvation in a pool, and she suggests that others do too, even if it means working hard to get over some psychological hurdles.   1. “Injured Runner” really hits home for me! Athelete I’m not, but motorcycler, horseback rider, gardener and lots of back abuse have left me with Spinal Stenosis. I can walk or stand for any period of time without pain pills.
    Swimming is a lifesaver!

    What can I do because I have a stress fracture in my upper shin. And I need to know what i can and what i can not do.
