Incense Does What Valium Does, Only Not as Well

Incense
Geezer is beginning to understand the conviction of a certain college roommate that life was less than it should be if the scent of incense did not fill a tiny dorm room 24 hours a day. The Scientific American reports that researchers at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem have discovered that incensole acetate, a component of the resin better known as frankincense, appears to reduce anxiety and depressive
symptoms in the mice. Sciam reports that incensole acetate is a mild drug: the chemical proved to be 10 times less potent than Valium in its reduction of anxiety.

  1. My name is Kym Rose and i would like to show you my personal experience with Valium.
I am 30 years old. Have been on Valium for 30 days now. Valium helped me realize that many of my symptoms WERE anxiety related. Got prescribed 5mg every 8 hours for leg and arm spasms.(Only need at most 1 a day) Only bad thing is the vivid dreams after a few days of use.
I have experienced some of these side effects –
    Giddiness, drowsiness.
I hope this information will be useful to others,
    Kym Rose

  2. Hi Kym,
I’m very surprised to hear your doctor choose this particular medication when there’s so many other better safer alternatives.
    This especially for your symptoms,..
Interesting, First off Benzodiazepines are highly addictive!!! Is it safe? It can be for a very short period of time depeding upon the medical problem. First off Valium should not be used for more than a few weeks, even under a doctor’s supervision. Many doctors do not recognize their dangerous aspects nor their potential for addiction. The main therapeutic effects —
Over all they are used to reduce tension, induce sleep, calm patients before operations, and as anti-seizure medications in some circumstances. Many of the side effects –
Impaired thinking and judgment and serious respiratory depression – This is a very sneaky & dangerous drug like many of its cousins. For one thing, users often don’t realize they’re getting hooked until they are hooked. Tolerance builds very quickly on this particular drug. This is one of the few medications that “can kill you” once you’re addicted and you just stop. Withdrawal from benzodiazepines can be dangerous or even fatal, depending on the drug, the amounts used,& length of use –
In my opinion today we have a responsibility to keep our selfs informed of what our doctors are perscribing as well as treatment. Ask questions, Ask as many questions you feel necessary & if your doctor doesn’t want to take the time to give you the answers then I’d consider another doctor. This is your life, & after all it’s the “practice” of medicine.
Good luck and I hope you feel better!
