Coffee, sometimes considered a health drink, kind of, may reduce the risk of developing multiple sclerosis, with the emphasis on “may.” Researchers at the Karolinski Institute have found that people who drink six or more cups of coffee a day had a 28 percent lower risk of MS. A Karolinska Institute news release reports that the findings are based on two population studies: one in Sweden comprising 1620 adults with MS and a comparison group of 2788, matched for age and sex; and a US study comprising 1159 people with MS and 1172 healthy people. The risk of MS was consistently higher among those drinking fewer cups of coffee every day.
