Shocking, but true: adults also sext.  And when they do, researchers at Drexel University are convinced, it can do good things for their sex lives. HealthDay reports that researchers at the school have found that eight in ten adults admit to having sent or received a sexually explicit text message. Wait, there’s more. Many of those adults, particularly those in relationships, say the sexting has improved their sex lives. Who are these people? The poll, a 20-minute telephone survey, involved 870 people between the ages of 18 and 22, with a median age of 35.  About 88 percent said they had sent or received a sext at least once in their lives, and 82 percent said they had sexted in the last 12 months. Roughly 75 percent had sexted with a committed partner, while 40 percent were in a casual relationship. About 12 percent did it when they were cheating on someone. And now the interesting part: men were more likely to think of it as “fun” and “carefree,” and women–get this- were more likely to want to send texts than receive them. Finally, the more sexting a couple did, the greater the sexual satisfaction of both men and women, with one exception– for those in a very committed relationship, sexting didn’t help or hurt their sex lives.
