OK, weight training doesn’t exactly burn belly fat, but it does appear to keep it off. How do we know? Because researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health say so. HealthDay reports that when researchers at the school compared the body composition and training habits of more than 10,000 men over the age of 40 between 1996 and 2008, they found that those who did 20 minutes of weight training daily had a smaller increase in belly fat than those who spent the same amount of time doing moderate to vigorous aerobic activities, such as stair climbing and yard work. And yes, the men who became more sedentary over the course of the 12-year study had a larger increase in belly fat.
