Why You Want To Massage Injured Muscles Immediately

The good news revealed in research conducted at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center is that wounded muscles heal faster and better if they are massaged immediately after the injury. The bad news is that the muscles used in the research belonged to rabbits. Lucky rabbits. HealthDay reports that when the researchers studied 24 white rabbits to determine the massage pressure, duration and timing needed to improve healing following a muscle injury, they found that if damaged muscle is massaged right away — for 15 minutes — there is a 20 to 40 percent chance of recovery. They also found that if the injured muscle was not massaged within 24 hours, it took much longer to heal. Read more in HealthDay.
