Feds Sweeten Food Guidelines, with Advice from Industry

For more than 20 years, federal dietary guidelines have warned of health risks associated with too much sugar. No more. Next year’s guidelines, cooked up by a panel of doctors and professors, doesn’t even mention sugar. This revealing editorial in the New York Times wonders if the omission was influenced by the seven members of the 13-person panel who have connections to the food, drug, and dietary supplement industries.
