Who knew that several studies show that moderate to high intensity workouts do not increase appetite? At least, the workouts do not increase the appetites of men who have volunteered for several studies. With women, however, things appear to be different (yet again). The Washington Post reports that in elaborate experiment that offered women all they could eat after workouts, women who exercised ate more than women who didn’t. Given that, it’s not surprising that women who exercised more strenuously devoured more calories than women who ran through a light workout. How much more? According to the Post, after light workouts women ate about 35 percent of the calories they had burned, but after high-intensity workouts, they consumed more than 90 percent of the calories burned.
