Are Oysters an Aphrodisiac?

You’ve heard the hype. You may have taken your hopes to the seafood counter and spent ten bucks on a half dozen oysters. You may have even been convinced that they worked, and maybe they did. Who knows? Actually, no one knows, but the scientific evidence supporting the assertion that oysters enhance our sex drive remains, well, flaccid. That said, the Washington Post offers a couple of biochemical reasons that oysters could possibly enhance our sex drive. One is their relatively high dose of zinc, which is associated with improved testosterone levels; another is their D-aspartic acid, which, research suggests, may support testosterone production. Scientists agree, however, that the most likely reason oysters enhance your sex drive is because you think they do.

Geezer’s advice: take the win.
