When there’s absolutely no fitness news to report, Geezer doesn’t panic: he shops. Often, he shops for the kind of very cool athletic accoutrements that no one, no matter how driven or how adventurous or how rich, will ever need. Ever. That’s approximately how he ended up here, at Outside magazine’s 2005 Gear of the Year Buyer’s Guide, where one can find dangerously gun-metal gray Brunton Epoch Zoom binoculars for $1900. Or Rudy Project Maskeryna sunglasses for $125. Geezer, who is still mourning a pair of Rudys that deconstructed in a recent skiing accident, likes the Nike Free 5.0 running shoes, but can’t help wondering why, if the theory argues that less foot support is better, he should pay $85 for any footwear, and not simply run barefoot. More cool stuff here.
