Too Much Riding May Lead to Too Little Sex

It’s official. And it’s not good. The September issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine summarizes a dozen studies designed to determine if it is true, as rumored, that cycling can damage some extremely valuable nerves and blood vessels. Turns out that, yes, it is true.  Reporting on the journal’s summaries, the New York Times tells us that some researchers estimate that 5 percent of men who ride intensively have developed severe to moderate erectile dysfunction as a result. Other researchers believe that, as is the case with all surveys of impotence, the actual numbers are much higher than those reported. Concerned riders should read this piece, and then perhaps move on to this helpful history of bicycle seats.
