Post Covid Exercise

Let’s say you’ve had Covid, and let’s say you feel pretty good, or at least good enough start exercising. Three words of advice: Don’t push it. Writing in the New York Times, Dr. Jordan Metzl, a sports medicine specialist at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery, reports seeing several patients who believed that they had fully recovered from Covid but just couldn’t get back into their pre-Covid workout regimen. Many were too tired. Some had trouble breathing. Most didn’t appreciate the risk of pushing too hard. To help his patients and other victims of Covid return safely to exercise, Metzl and colleagues have published guidelines for coming back to health, with a clear explanation how Covid can damage hearts, lungs and other body systems.
