For Runners: Where You Are Going, Where You Have Been, and How Many Calories You Have Burned

First there was GPS, then there was Garmin, and now comes Bones in Motion, whose product, BiM Active, turns a mobile phone into a map, altimeter, calories-burned counter, and a few other things whose very thought could jack up the cardio of runners and cyclists who happen also to be serious gadget freaks. Bones in Motion software lets runners and cylcists record their speed, distance, calories, elevation and route, and delivers distance and pace feedback on the fly. Wait, there’s more: runners can view maps,
charts and summary information from your mobile or Web browser, and the application maintains a private journal online that is sharable with others. The service went live in February in the form of a $9.99 a month offering from Sprint Nextel. Read more about BiM Active in the L.A. Times.
