A new study conducted at the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State suggests that women who exercise during menopause have fewer unpleasant symptoms and enjoy a better quality of life. Penn State reports that 164 sedentary menopausal women, average age 50, were randomly assigned
to a walking program, a yoga program or a control group that did no
additional exercise for four months. The women who walked or took yoga
classes reported a better quality of life and reduced negative effects
of menopause compared to the no-exercise group. The New York Times reports that researchers concluded that "yoga participants also appeared to benefit in the sexual domain.â€Â
