Yet Another Way Fat Can Do You Harm

Is too much food bad for us?  Researchers at Harvard School of Public Health who are counting the ways have just found another: excess body fat has the ability to fire up the
immune system in harmful ways that lead to insulin resistance, type 2
diabetes, and heart disease. The school’s news office reports that researchers there have discovered a protective factor in mice that appears to coordinate
normal metabolic and immune activity after meals. The molecule, known
as STAMP2, is made mostly in abdominal fat, where it increases just
