Once the province of twenty-somethings, triathlons have been attracting an older (and wiser) crowd of late. Writing in the Boston Globe, Joseph P. Kahn tells us that "pushing limits, if not pushing back the hands of time, is a common refrain among over-40 athletes." What it’s about? Kahn attributes much of the trend to better training regimens, more organized competitions like road and bike
races, and more leisure time in which to get in competitive shape. One 46-year-old who started running marathons four years ago tells Kahn
"With age, you get smarter about taking care of your body and more interested in getting a sense of what it can do,"
