Secret To Elder Health Is Soccer

Want to see some cardiovascular improvements that will keep you fit through age 75?  Play soccer. No, you are not too old. Just ask imagesresearchers at the University of Copenhagen, where scientists looked at the fitness in men between the ages of 63 and 75. Science Daily reports that the researchers found that after just 4 months of soccer training, the cardiovascular fitness scores of the men improved by 15 percent, interval work capacity increased by 43 percent and functional capacity by 30 percent. After one year of playing soccer, there was a 3 percent reduction in BMI purely from the loss of fat mass, with an increased ability to control blood sugar.

I agree that soccer would be a superb conditioner for seniors, even including those older than 75 years. The problem in the US would be to find a critical number of like-minded individuals with a passion for the game and able and willing to meet at a convenient time and location for practice and games.
