Ski Helmets Save Lives

Ski helmets save lives. But they only work if you put them on your head. That’s the word from researchers at Johns Hopkins, whose 2012 found that helmets worn by skiers and snowboarders decrease the risk and severity of head injuries and yes, they save lives. A Johns Hopkins news release reports that when the researchers reviewed 16 studies on injury in recreational skiers and snowboarders, they concluded that helmets are lifesavers and, unsurprisingly, do not increase the risk of injury. Because of their work, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma now recommends that all skiers and snowboarders wear helmets. It’s your head. Take care of it. Read more from Johns Hopkins.  Read the report here.
