Is vitamin D related to ED, as in erectile dysfunction? Researchers at Johns Hopkins Med School think it may be. HealthDay reports that when scientists at the school analyzed data from more than 3,400 men, age 20 and older, they found that vitamin D deficiency was present in 35 percent of men with erectile dysfunction, compared with 29 percent of those without erectile dysfunction. That means that men with vitamin D deficiency were 32 percent more likely to be impotent than those with sufficient vitamin D levels, and that association held even after accounting for other factors associated with erectile dysfunction, such as drinking, smoking, diabetes, higher blood pressure, inflammation and certain medications. How big a problem is that? The researchers claim that about 40 percent of men older than 40 and 70 percent of those older than 70 are unable to attain and maintain an erection.
Is this true? Vitamin D could be the cure for ED?
