While male health experts argue about the pros and cons of running marathons, women are talking with their feet, and flocking to their race of choice: half-marathons. The Los Angeles Times reports that a record number of women  just more than 1.1 million making up 60 percent of the finishers  completed half-marathons in 2012, according to Running USA. The paper reports that the shorter race, at 13.1 miles, is attractive to women because training doesn’t require fancy equipment and is focused on results. Want to join them? Running coach Jeff Galloway helped graphic designers at the paper put together the training schedule for half-marathons shown above. Click on it to enlarge.
