Remember Peter Fonda in Easy Rider? If the answer is yes, you probably shouldn’t be riding a motorcycle. New research published in the journal Injury Prevention reports that easy riders over the age of 60 are more than twice a likely to seriously hurt themselves as are young riders. The BBC reports on the study, which analysed data between 2001 to 2008 from the US National Electronic Injury Surveillance System-All Injury Program, and found that bikers over the age of 60 were three times more likely to be admitted to hospital compared with those in their 20s and 30s – and two-and-a-half times more likely to sustain a serious injury.
