Where To Live If You Want To Live Long

Want to live a long time? What if it means moving to Iowa, the state in which men live longest? Or North Dakota, the state where women live longest? Thanks, but no thanks. Fortunately, according to a study conducted by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, you don’t have to live in the middle of nowhere to live a long life. In Marin County, California, men live the longer than in any other county (81.6 years on average). For women, the longest lived county (85.8 years) is Collier, in Florida. Gender wise, women’s lifespans are improving at a much slower pace than men, and in hundreds of counties women are living shorter lives today than they did two decades ago, possibly because a larger percentage of women than men had inadequately treated high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
