Soy Doesn’t Help Hot Flashes, But Relaxing Does

Two new studies on a hot topic, so to speak. In one, researchers at U.C Davis and Texas A&M persuaded themselves that eating soy does not prevent hot flashes and night sweats in most women, as many women believed it would. The study, which involved 3,000 women between the ages of 42 and 52, found no correlation between soy supplements and hot flashes and night sweats. But wait: in another study conducted at Linkoping University in Sweden, researchers found that women who learned to relax in group therapy reduced their menopausal troubles by half.
