It may or may not be better to look good than to feel good, but researchers at the University of St. Andrews have found an easy way to do both: eat fruits or vegetables twice a day for six weeks. A university news release reports that researchers tracked 35 students over a 6 week period, measuring natural changes in their diet and skin color. They also measured how big a change in skin colour needs to occur before other people notice it. What did they find? Just two extra portions of fruit and vegetables per day created a detectable change in skin color. Sufficiently impressed to change your diet? The same researchers are now conducting trials in Scotland to determine whether people are persuaded to change their dietary habits when they see the possible benefits. Sounds promising until you notice that the photos are identical, just recolored. Compare the hair and the shirt collar on the before and after photos. I want to believe, but are we being manipulated?
