Contrary to arguments often made my people who like to argue about health issues, healthy food is no more expensive than junk food. The Wall Street Journal reports on a new study conducted by USDA that looked at a food’s worth from new perspective: rather than measure calories per dollar, it looked weight and price per portion. From that viewpoint, the researchers found, consumers get better value in fruits, vegetables, lean meat and low-fat milk. Shoppers who just want the most calories per dollar, on the other hand, should stick with pizza, french fries, and other foods high in salt and saturated fat. No need to argue.
