Omega 3s Reduce Anxiety

Scientists there worked with a group of 68 first and second-year medical students, giving half the students omega-3 supplements containing four times the amount of fish oil they would get from a daily serving of salmon, while the other half were given placebo pills. Blood samples were drawn and the students were put through a battery of psychological surveys intended to gauge their levels of stress, anxiety or depression. An Ohio State news release reports that psychological surveys clearly showed that those receiving the omega-3 showed a 20 percent reduction in anxiety compared to the placebo group, while an analysis of the of the blood samples from the medical students showed similar results.
