Another reason to resent the French lifestyle; French people don't just eat better tasting food than we do, they eat more healthfully. Researchers at the University of Bordeaux spent five years studying 7,625 people aged 65 and older living in Bordeaux, Dijon and Montpelier. The researchers analyzed medical records and asked whether people in the study group used olive oil in cooking, on salads or with bread intensively, moderately or never. The BBC reports that the study found that the risk of stroke was 41 percent lower in those who regularly used olive oil compared with those who abstained, once other factors such as diet, exercise and weight were taken into account.
