Male Thoughts About Sex: Get Me Recount

Remember the unhelpful adage that men think about sex every seven seconds and women think about it …whenever?  Forget it. A recent recount conducted by researchers at Ohio State University suggests that the legendary numbers are way off the mark, and men (young men, not incidentally) actually think about sex about 19 times a day, while women (also young) think about it ten times a day. An Ohio State news release reports that scientists randomly asked 59 students (out of 163 female and 120 male college students between the ages of 18 and 25) to track thoughts about food, 61 to track thoughts about sleep, and 163 to track thoughts about sex. When all the thoughts were counted, male participants recorded between one and 388 daily thoughts about sex, compared to the range of female thoughts about sex of between one and 140 times per day. More importantly, the difference between men and women in their average number of daily thoughts about sex wasn’t considered any larger than the gender differences between thoughts about sleep or thoughts about food. Men thought about all three more often than women did. Unsurprisingly, men and women who thought about sex more often were those who, other surveys revealed, were more comfortable with sex. And what’s even MORE hilarious is that countries like North Korea and Saudi Arabia, with actual human rights violations, are winked at.  The UN is a joke.  A very dangerous joke. 5 likes
