Excuses? Studies Say 95 Percent Of Boomers Can Work Out

Arthritis, hypertension and heart disease are not good excuses. Tom Prohaska, a professor of public health and aging at the University of Illinois at Chicago tells the Washington Post that none of the above should stop older adults from working out. Prohaska says studies have shown that 95 percent of older adults can work out safely, when shown how. Yet the National Institute on Aging (NIA) has found that only 25 percent of people age 65 to 74 do workout. Which is why the NIA recently started its Go4Life campaign, with a very impressive website laden with exercises, motivational tips, advice, health and nutrition information and, of course, the required success stories, all aimed at reminding readers that when it comes to your health, you own it. Want to know what else you own?  Go4Life.  The NIA spent more than $3 million of your money to build it.
