Ensure Muscle Health is a "health shake" aimed squarely at boomers, whose muscle mass has been in decline since they were in their twenties but who only recently started to worry about it. The drink's alleged powerful ingredient is something called beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate, wisely shortened to HBM. What exactly does HBM do? The Los Angeles Times reports that lots of people are trying to figure that out. The people who sell Ensure insist that it will maintain muscle strength of men of a certain age, but some independent research suggests that "ensure" should be changed to "unsure." The Times reports on a 1996 Iowa State University study in which young men lifted weights for an hour and a half, three times a week, for three weeks. Some took no supplements, while others took 1.5 grams or 3 grams of HMB per day. Those researchers found that the men taking the most HMB had the least muscle damage, and those who took no supplements had the most damage. Muscle strength also increased most in the men who took the 3 grams of HMB daily  by an average of 18.4 percent compared with 13 percent for men who took 1.5 grams of HMB and 8 percent in the men who took none. Other studies were more puzzling. In 2003, a study of 35 college football players at Oklahoma State University who took 3 grams of HMB daily showed no effect on muscle strength or muscle mass; and a 2009 review of 14 published studies that found that HMB appeared to have the greatest effect in men who were not routine weight lifters or resistance trainers.

The government should be aware about the products sold in the market of different energy drinks company. While the company should also cooperate with the Food and Drugs Authority of the government. This, to ensure that health of the consumers are protected.
It also depends on how the body is able to adapt to the supplement.
