Exciting news–literally, especially if you hear it from someone you're talking to on your cell phone. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health's National Institute on Drug Abuse have found that 50 minutes of cell phone use boosts the metabolism of brain cells close to the phone by 6 to 8 percent. NPR reports that researchers believe the electromagnetic fields produced by cell phones are strong enough to jack up glucose metabolism. Is that bad? At this point, researchers aren't saying. Is it good? Same answer.
