Angry People Don’t Get Even, Just Dead

Is it good news or bad news that angry people are at greater risk of heart failure than the rest of us? Hard to say, but it would be a mistake to stress out about it. MedPage Today reports that researchers at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health found not only that high levels of anger were associated with a greater risk of developing heart failure; they were also associated with a greater risk of getting readmitted to the hospital for heart related treatment. Wait, there’s more: MedPage also cites a recent meta-analysis published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology that showed that previously healthy people who were prone to anger and hostility had a greater risk for coronary heart disease events.  And for those who already had heart disease, anger was associated with a worse prognosis.
