15 Minute Walk Cuts Craving For Chocolate In Half

Chocoholics who want to lose their cravings for the sweet stuff have a very easy fix, according to researchers at the University of Exeter in the U.K. They can take walk. A U of E news release reports that researchers asked 78 regular chocolate-eaters to stay away from the stuff for two days, then divided into four groups, two of which were asked to take to take a brisk 15-minute walk on a treadmill, and all of which were given work to complete at a desk, with a bowl of chocolate placed within reach. The researchers found that regardless of the complexity of the task, those who had exercised before working consumed on average half the amount of chocolate as the others: around 15 grammes, compared with 28 grammes. For American readers, 15 grammes is equivalent to a small ‘treat size’ or ‘fun size’ chocolate bar. Read more from the University of Exeter.
