Geezer finds it hard enough to get things right when he's awake. How then is he supposed to time things properly when he's asleep? It's a problem, and according to research conducted at Federico II University Medical School in Naples and Warwick University in England, the consequences are enough to keep you up at night. Yikes! Have a look at the headline on the University of Warwick press release: "Short Sleep Increases Risk of Death & Over Long Sleep Can Indicate Serious Illness." This is a tough game to win. Seriously, the university reports that their study looked at "the relationship between the habitual
duration of sleep and mortality by reviewing 16 prospective studies from
the UK, USA, European and East Asian countries. The study included more
than 1.3 million participants, followed up for up to 25 years. Here's the scary part: "the study provides unequivocal evidence of the direct link between
both short (less than 6 hours sleep a night) and long (9 hours or more)
duration of sleep and an increased chance of dying prematurely, compared
to those who sleep 6-8 hours a night on average."
What to do? Don't look for advice from the University of Warwick. This may help. Or Not.
yah..all is true..
YOu’ll live longer and sleep better when you stop listening to and worry about wha the supposed “experts” say on any and every subject.
Sleep when you are tired. Eat when you are hungry. Do what you know you need to do when you need to do it in a natural manner as you employ common sense.
Next week, so other “expert” will contradict this expert and then, the week after that, another expert will do the same…it all depends on who is paying for the research and what they want to hear.
namaste
For years I had insomnia. Now that I’ve “retired” due to a lack of gainful employment, I’m sleeping 10 hours a day. Why should I care, anyway?
My advice is quit work, loaf more & sleep better!
