Self-Esteem Peaks at 60

One thing that doctors and shrinks agree about is that it's good to feel good about ourselves. Healthy self-esteem is linked to better general health, less depression, and yes, greater wealth. Now comes a study, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, that tracks the waxing and waning of self-esteem over the course of our lives. HealthDay reports that researchers at UC Davis surveyed 3,617 adults aged 25 to 104, trying to reach all of them
four times between 1986 and 2002.The researchers found that the lowest self-esteem in young people, and the highest self-esteem in people who were about 60.They also found that women had lower self-esteem than men, on
average, until they reached their 80s and 90s. And yes, health and wealth correlated with higher self-esteem, but no one is saying whether high self-esteem leads to greater health and wealth, or vice versa.

  1. I find this article much to brief to be effective. Not enough “meat on the bones.” I.E., more differentiation, more detail in general, examples, etc.. Thanks.
