Research Shows Garlic Benefits to Heart

It keeps vampires away; it keeps suitors at bay; and now, research has shown, garlic may keep cardiomyopic damage at bay. The American Chemical Society, of all people, reports in a news release that scientists fed either garlic oil or corn oil to laboratory rats with diabetes, a major cause of the heart disease known as cardiomyopathy. The researchers found that animals given garlic oil experienced beneficial changes associated with protection against heart damage. The scientists believe that the changes were  associated with more than 20 substances in garlic oil that have potent antioxidant properties.
