Reading (Food Labels) Leads to Weight Loss

Simply reading food labels before buying food appears to help women lose weight, according to a new study from researchers at Washington State University. Science Daily reports that researchers at the school found that people who observe the
labels and do not exercise are slightly more likely lose
weight than those who do exercise but do not pay attention to food
labels. They also found that by adding an exercise routine to their lifestyle regular
food label readers can increase their changes of losing weight.

  1. There is merit to this study, but remember this, GOOD FOOD does not come with a label (list of ingredients). Labels are only used for food that has been altered or processed. Look in the produce department, no labels on fruits and veggies. See my point? The best GOOD FOOD is raw! No processing! And for goodness sakes people, if the label of ingredients has more than a couple words, be very skeptical, and if it has words that can’t be pronounced, DON’T buy it. Unfortunately, most (not all) of our food industry here in the West has lost sight of what is GOOD, having replaced this most important value with what is more profitable, like engineered food, shelf life, attractive packaging, and advertising. What a shame on us!

  2. I have to add though, it is amusing that on face value, it would suggest in the article here that (the reading)
    is what is cause for weight loss, and not the refusal to eat, based on what was discovered to be in the product. Thankfully, there is enough shame to go around, and the writer now has his/her’s too. LOL

  3. DOUG– LIKED THE COMMENT OF YOURS. I AM CUTTING OFF SALT- SUGARS, FLOUR, SOME BAD FATS-AND NO MSG!( MSG IS BETTER KNOWN AS MONSODIUM GLUTAMATE.) ALSO—NO TO NUTRASWEET, (ASPARTAME)–OR OTHER ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS). OUR FAMILY HAS LONG SINCE UPPED THE FRUITS VEGGIES AND NUTS. WE GO EASY ON THE MEATS. AND INCLUDE A LOT OF FISH IN OUR DIET. NO SUGARY DRINKS ANYMORE EITHER. WE TRY TO WATCH OUT FOR ALL THE PACKAGED GIMMICKS.WE HAVE LESSENED USING CANNED FOODS DUE TO ALL THE SALT IN THE PRODUCTS.(PEOPLE WITH HEART TROUBLES –SHOULD REDUCE SALT INTAKE.)
