The New England Journal of Medicine tells us that the average adult gains about one pound this time of year, between mid-November and mid-January. The bad news is: most of us keep the weight on. I think everyone has an ideal, natural weight, and I wish there were more tools to calculate what each individual’s ideal weight should be. Height, obviously, but what about bone structure? Wrist diameter? Head size (sounds odd, but think about it). Waist and inseam measurements? Etc. Trying to diet below your ideal weight is kind of a lost cause.
