Happiness Study: From Age 50, Life Gets Better (Before it Gets Worse)

Good news for readers in their early fifties. It gets better before it gets worse. And when it gets worse, it’s not has bad as it was. That prognosis is extracted from a Gallup poll, of all things, of more than 340,000 people ages 18 to 85. The New York Times reports that the survey asked, among other things, about “global well-being,” by having each person rank overall life
satisfaction on a 10-point scale. The survey showed that at age 18 people feel good
about themselves, and then, not so much. In fact, they feel worse and worse until they hit 50, when something strange happens: they begin to get happier and experience more enjoyment for the next 25 years, after which there is a slight decline. But even at age 85, they are more satisfied with themselves
than they were at 18. Read an abstract of the study here.

  1. Hitting 50 this year and I find this to be true. Seems like I just don’t care so much what other people think. I know who I am and what I stand for and that’s good enough.

  2. My soon to be wife developed allergies as she got a little older. We found too many chemicals in her skin care products we did not like. So we did some research and developed our own skin oil that helps repair, nourish and moisturize dry damaged skin. It is a blend of all natural and essential oils. We have had so much success locally with friends and family, we began to sell it online. It is called E ESSENTIAL 24 BEST SKIN OIL.
