Writing in the Washington Post, Jennifer LaRue Huget has some bad news for readers who hope that eating certain foods will help them sleep: Foods that promote sleep are hard to find. Foods that keep you awake, however, are more easily identified, and number one on that list is (not caffeine) fat. In a study that tracked the diets and sleep habits of 459 women enrolled in the federal
government's 15-year Women's Health Initiative, Women who ate the most fat slept for shorter times and took more naps, a
sign that they didn't get enough restful sleep at night. Huget helpfully directs us to a list of foods associated with more or less sleep.
