More than 600,000 men are being treated for prostate cancer with something called androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), which blocks male hormones that are believed to fuel prostate cancer growth. Drugs used in ADT, which has previouly been linked with heart disease and cognitive decline, include Proscar, Lupron and Finesteride. Now comes a new study linking ADT with bone decay. HealthDay reports that researchers at the University of Melbourne examined 26 prostate cancer patients being treated with ADT with high resolution peripheral quantitative CT imaging — that enabled them to take “virtual bone biopsies.”. The investigators found evidence that the men had “structural decay of cortical (hard outer shell) and trabecular (spongy inner mesh) bone.” With so many problems with ADT, why is it so widely used? In this article in Medscape Today, a doctor suggests that “money is a driver.”
Hormones the believe fuel prostate cancer? They believe? They don’t know? So they just give you something and hope it works? Yes its All about money,Big Money!
