Some of the (less politically astute) men on Geezer’s soccer team have wondered why women have a hard time saying no to all the wrong things, like food. Now they know. WebMD reports on research conducted at the Brookhaven National Laboratory that used PET scans to gauge the reaction to foods of both men and women. The researchers tested 13 women and 10 men who were required to fast for 18 hours, while seeing and smelling their favorite foods. Before a second round of scans, participants were asked to practice
ignoring the food. The website reports that after that request, the men’s brains showed much less
hunger-related activity, but the women’s brains continued to show the same level of emotional response to food. What’s it mean? Geezer knows nothing. Read more in WebMD.
