Now come some very smart researchers from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who say the famous blues man got that right. The Louisiana scientists led a study that followed 17,000 Canadians for 12 years, tracking how much time they spent sitting on most days and correlating that time with causes of death. The scientists found that increased
sitting time was linked with death rates from all causes, except cancer. Wait, there’s more: They also found that exercise didn’t necessarily mitigate the risks of excessive sitting. Even those who exercised regularly but
