When food writer Michael Pollan asked readers of the New York Times' Well column to send in their favorite rules for eating well, he got more than 2,500 responses. He chose 20 to publish in the New York Times. Geezer chose 10.
1. Don't leave the table without eating fruit.
2. Don't eat anything that took more energy to ship than to grow.
3. Never eat something that pretends to be something else.
4. Don't eat something that you aren't willing to kill yourself.
5. It's better to pay the grocer than the doctor.
6. Take three bites of five plates instead of 15 bites from one plate.
7. When drinking tea, just drink tea.
8. Eat foods in inverse proportion to how much its lobby spends to push it.
9.Avoid snack foods with the "o" sound in their names.
10. Don't follow any rules whose only purpose is to make you feel in control.
